NiluTea is a premium tea brand with a powerful story. Our mission is to deliver a delighting tea experience by offering a curated selection of world famous Sri Lankan pure Ceylon teas.
We are a brand who believes it can affect change when we build a closer and meaningful connection between the tea pickers, producers, retailers and ultimately, the tea drinkers.
Nilu Tea sources its purest form of fresh and premium Ceylon teas from Kelani Valley and Talawakelle tea plantations that own Rainforest Alliance and Ethical Tea Partnership certified tea gardens. The two plantation companies ensure that their teas are produced under strict hygiene conditions and food safety standards. Under “A Home for Every Plantation Worker” initiative, the companies take care of their most important asset – its people.
Nilu Tea is the story of the people and the many lives and hands the tea production cycle touches as it travels from garden to cup. 10% of all profits benefit Emerging Hope Lanka, a not for profit organization that aims to empower and educate women in Sri Lanka to start their own micro-business.

Nilushika ( Nilu ) is the first woman entrepreneur to own and operate a tea business in Sri Lanka. Being orphaned at fourteen and the eldest among her siblings, Nilu’s persistence and determination in making changes to her life gave her the motivation to seek a new beginning and look for opportunities away from home. After spending 16 years as a domestic helper in Singapore, she returned to her home country to start an e-commerce business selling a curated selection of premium teas to customers in France, Hong Kong, and Singapore.
Determined to overcome her struggles and rise above life’s circumstances, she decided to create her own tea brand, Nilu Tea, to bring to the market a premium tea product, while continuing to promote her beliefs that everything is possible when you put people first. 10% of all profits from sales from Nilu Tea benefit Emerging Hope Lanka, a not for profit organization that aims to empower and educate women in Sri Lanka to start their own micro-business.
